This district is located in the southeast upper Bavaria.The town was first documented between 1102 and 1105 as the Berthercatmen monastery.Berchtesgaden came under the rule of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810.In the mid19th century Berchtesgaden became a tourist destination.
